UCLA shortstop Natasha Watley has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA
National Player of the Week for the week of March 3-9.
Watley led the Bruins with an 11-for-14 (.786) perfromance at the plate. The
senior belted seven RBI's and a triple while stealing eight bases on the weekend
as UCLA went 4-1 at the Hedrick's Halllowell Chevrolet Classic.
Watley had at least two hits in each of UCLA's five games last weekend, and had
at least one stolen base in each game.
Against BYU, she went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI's including a two-run triple. Watley
had another 3-RBI game in the Bruins' win over St. John's.
Against Cal Poly and Fresno State, Watley was perfect at the plate, going
3-for-3 and scoring two runs against Caal Poly while going 2-for-2 with three
runs against the Bulldogs.
On the season, the senior leads the nation's top-ranked team with a .532 batting
average.
